The original strike movement was suppressed by General Ching Chueng Ming and the agitators were suitably dealt with, but when in November Swatow surrendered to the Kuo Min Tang army under the Cantonese General Cheung Kai Shek the boycott was re- imposed and a fresh campaign of violent propaganda, directly inspired by the Reds and aimed at the Hongkong
